EI 12 - Shock - Spleen Meridian
Energetic Integrator Infoceutical EI12
The primary focus for Integrator 12 is digestion, sugar regulation and nourishment. As the last Integrator in sequence, this is the compartment that often holds the burden of the body’s accumulated stress and shock. It includes the spleen meridian and its associations. The Infoceutical helps to optimise energy flow along this pathway and to all the components that are contained within it, helping to clear and correct any energy blocks and incoherent messages along the way.

Spleen. In TCM the spleen organ energy system includes the pancreas and its role in digestion and sugar regulation. The spleen meridian in this context is responsible for the transformation of food into energy and the transportation of that energy from the centre of the body upwards and out to all the cells. A central theme here is nourishment and movement. When this process is working well, food is broken down into simple forms that are ready for absorption, the body maintains a steady blood sugar and the cells receive the fuel and nutrition to build tissues and make hormones and enzymes. When it is not, there may be digestive symptoms, especially indigestion and/or loose stools, a lack of energy and reduced function and tissue repair throughout the body. Muscle tissue in particular is associated with this Integrator. As with other Integrators that are involved in metabolism and movement, there may be circulatory issues too, such as pale skin, congestion or cold extremities. Deficient movement causes “stagnation” and fluid accumulation in the tissues. There may be excess phlegm or catarrh and if this process continues and goes deeper it can cause the formation of hard lumps, fibroids and tumours.
Spleen Meridian. The Spleen Meridian begins at the big toe and runs along the inside of the foot crossing the inner ankle. It continues up the inner side of the leg and thigh. Once it enters the abdominal cavity, a branch connects with the spleen and the stomach. The main channel continues up through the chest, the oesophagus and finishes under the tongue. An inner branch from the stomach region transports energy up to the heart. This Integrator includes both the pancreas and the spleen; lymphatic fluid and tissues; muscle fascia; the corpus callosum, which links the cerebral hemispheres, coordinating left and right brain activity; the uterus and, in pregnant women, the foetus.
Shock. Shock can badly distort this Integrator and its functions. It is not uncommon for people who have experienced a physical or emotional trauma like the loss of a loved one, or a frightening experience, to go on to develop diabetes shortly after. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a major event, sometimes it’s the straw that broke the camel’s back scenario, and the “I’ve never been right since” – the result of an accumulation of little errors and blocks in the flow of energy and information, that eventually becomes too much for the body to correct. Here we get burn-out, exhaustion and the development of chronic health conditions. Integrator 12 is particularly vulnerable to the effects of radiation and geopathic stress. It can also accumulate environmental toxins, as well as physical and emotional traumas. As the last Integrator in the sequence, all the little errors that may be passed from one Integrator to the next can end up being dumped here. If this Integrator is “stuck” and energy flow has slowed and stagnated, this is going to affect all the other Integrators too. See the Big Body Wave box.
Emotions. The emotion that is most damaging to the spleen is worry. Just as overeating, or toxic accumulation can stress the spleen, so can obsessive worrying and over-thinking, giving it too much to handle. Thinking and memory recall can become less sharp and we may feel bogged down and unable to see a way to move forward, at least not with an agile mind and an agile body. The Chinese term for bad temper is 'bad spleen energy', an association also reflected in the English term 'splenetic' which means bad-tempered. Sugar regulation issues typically cause mood issues, such as irritability, temper tantrums or bouts of melancholy. With exhaustion there can sometimes be the exhaustion of hope. On the other hand, the Spleen Integrator brings acceptance (which is a powerful way to relieve stress and restore hope) and the ability to experience pleasure, a basic indication of well-being. The themes around nourishment relate to sympathy and compassion and the ability to take care of ourselves and others. It is possible to have too much sympathy as well as a lack. With too much sympathy we may have a “poor me” attitude or become overwhelmed and too involved in the struggles of others. Balanced energy brings stability, security and trust in our self-ability to heal and move forwards in life.

The Big Body Wave. Energy and information cycles through the 12 Energetic Integrators many times a second. Energetic Integrator 12, as the last in sequence is where the wave reforms and starts again. It’s an adaptation point, the last chance to check the information in the waveform before it repeats again at Integrator 1. It is at Integrator 12 that the disruption or correction of the body-field wave has its consequences, because the adaptation point gives the physical body its ability to change, to respond to everything to which is it exposed. Every cell of the body contributes, through its DNA fields, to the changing nature of the big body-wave. However, if the waveform is badly distorted at Energetic Integrator 12, at the end of the wave cycle, the waveform cannot start up again properly, or perhaps at all. The body is very adaptable and flexible, so it can deal with small distortions, but as a message becomes more and more distorted, the body is less able to understand and use that information. Ultimately, the message becomes so scrambled that the body cannot compensate, so physiology breaks down. If the adaptation process ceases to function properly, we are going to see more serious and long-term health conditions.
