Cytochrome C Oxidase (CCO) in the mitochondria resonates at frequencies between 630 to 660 nm in the red end of the visible spectrum and between 810 and 830 nm in the Near infrared spectrum.
Our unit operates at 810 nanometers in the Near Infrared frequency range, which is a preferred resonant frequency of Cytochrome C in all mitochondria, stimulating the final reduction of Oxygen to Water. We also stimulate at a synergistic 650 nm, so you can see that the laser is working. The red wavelength photons penetrate a couple centimeters in the the skin and deeper soft tissues.
The photons absorbed by CCO dissociate Nitric Oxide (NO) which would otherwise inhibit that crucial fourth step in the electron transport chain.
This increases the trans-membrane electrical potential (voltage) of the mitochondria allowing for increased oxidative metabolism and more ATP production.
810 nm NIR can penetrate up to 7 inches through soft tissues of the body, which is many times greater depth than the resonant frequencies in the red portion of the visible spectrum.
810 nm light can penetrate up to 4 to 5 centimeters into the brain, with about 4.2% being delivered transcranially in the frontal area, and even higher amounts in the area of the visual cortex.
