Are There Any Bugs in Your Design?
Failing to plan is like planning to fail. Website Design must respond to the demands of both on page SEO and content marketing in order to be effective at bring you buyer keyword traffic and new clients or customers.
The first thing that search engines see, which is the keywords embedded in the URL (Universal Resource Locator or web address) is as important as the first thing your browsing web surfers see as potential new clientele... which is the graphic design, followed by the headlines. Headlines and even sub-heads are a special balancing act, because they have significant influence over the responses of both human and machine (search engine) visitors to your site. Leading with keywords is important, but headlines must grab readers' attention, and certainly must be highly readable. |
As far as readability goes, black print on a white background, simulating ink on paper is widely considered the ideal, although target market considerations come into play in the optimal look and feel to get the emotional response you are looking for. Colors near the centre of the visible spectrum, particularly yellow (like this font) and green can also work well visually, and when done just right, actually provide adequate contrast while minimizing chromatic aberration and after image interference effects in the human visual system.

What words will your Avatar, your ideal new client, type in to the Google search box when looking for a solution to the kind of problems you want to solve for them?
Those keyword phrases are what you want your business website or blog to rank for. If your site can come up on page 1, you will start seeing an influx of new faces in your business, and if you can rank in the top 2 or 3 listings, you will start getting a good chunk of the potential traffic of new clients in your field to see your site. Know When Less is More...
You have one breath cycle of about 5 to 10 seconds to attract your new prospects attention to your message. Your message had better be simple, understandable, and about them, NOT you! You want your ideal client, your 'Avatar', to read your look at your main image and read your headline and feel "this is for me."
The sequence of feelings and emotions you invoke are particularly important because ultimately purchasing decisions are primarily rooted in emotion. They must be backed up by good and valid reasons, best presented in a short bulleted list, so the logical mind is empowered to give the go ahead to the emotion-based desire to act. |
Finally, the action itself should be as simple as clicking a button. That button can then bring up the opt-in form to get on your prospect list. Depending on your market, you may want to ask only for email address to start, as you will get more leads compared to asking for both name and address. Every additional field you add to your form will further reduce your response rate. Of course, your particular situation may be such that you want to screen and qualify for only the best suited prospects, in which case asking the right questions can help to disqualify those unproductive leads that you prefer not to waste your followup time pursuing... This is where forethought and strategy can come in.
